June 5, 2012—Women Auto Know, a not-for-profit automotive educational organization for women, has formally partnered with Queens College to launch an internship program.
The internship program involves business and liberal arts students, as well as the career development and internship office at Queens College. Interns will work 6 to 18 hours per week, or a maximum of 150 hours, for credit or a stipend plus travel expenses. They will be working in administration, accounting, communications, workshop support and graphics.
Women Auto Know—founded by Audra Fordin, owner of Great Bear Auto Repair and Body Shop in Flushing, N.Y.—is managing the internship program with Queens College.
"The auto industry is a great career goal for students, and it is my hope that in addition to qualified mechanics, I will be able to help those students looking to manage and market a successful a business," she said.
