I-CAR Recognizes 'Outstanding' Instructors, Volunteers

March 6, 2013

March 6, 2013—I-CAR recently recognized several "outstanding" instructors and volunteers for their dedication to the organization and for delivering collision repair training to their local areas.

Committee chairmen were recognized for their 2012 results during the I-CAR Awards Banquet at its Western Regional Conference in Anaheim, Calif. Individuals from each region were recognized with three awards, including the Lon Baudoux Instructor of the Year award, the King TUT (Total Units Taught) award, and the Founder’s Award.

Bill Vocasek of I-CAR's Northwest region and Michael Lonabaugh of I-CAR's Southwest region were awarded with the Lon Baudoux Instructor of the Year award for exemplifying an I-CAR presence in the classroom, a commitment to excellence and keeping pace with technology.

“Each year there are many nominations for this award and the decision is always difficult. It is an honor to recognize this year’s Instructor of the Year recipients," said Bob Mickey, Northwest regional manager for I-CAR. "Both gentlemen have made an impact on many of us in the industry."

The King TUT award was presented to Marc Essig of I-CAR's Northwest region and Toby Chess of I-CAR's Southwest region, two instructors who have taught the most students in their respective regions.

Ralph Groover of the Northwest region and Keith Going of the Southwest region were presented with the Founder’s award for exemplifying the I-CAR volunteer spirit.

“The instructors and volunteers of I-CAR are the life blood of this organization,” said Jeff Peevy, senior director of field operations and segment development for I-CAR. “Without them, we would not be able to live up to the I-CAR vision. It is an honor to recognize them for the significant contributions they have made to so many people in the industry that we serve.”
