July 13, 2011—The next episode of Collision Hub’s live educational video series, Repair University, will cover the basics of design-based repair. The episode will air July 14 at 1 p.m. CDT on CollisionHub.com.
The episode, featuring Richard Perry, manager of training and insurance relations for Chief Automotive Technologies, will cover why shops can no longer rely on visual inspections, the importance of measuring a collision-damaged vehicle and the value of multipoint measuring during repairs.
“What was once a simple misalignment may not be an obvious repair on modern cars,” Perry said. “The growing use by vehicle manufacturers of advanced materials and sophisticated designs results in collision damage being transmitted to areas that previously would have been unaffected in a similar accident. Technicians and estimators who haven’t been trained to look for this damage can easily miss it, resulting in supplements and longer repair cycle times.”
