Dec. 5, 2012—Applications for the Collision Repair Education Foundation’s 2013 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover $50,000 school grant are now available online.
The Education Foundation will again award two $50,000 grants in 2013. One grant will be presented to a secondary school collision repair program, and one to a post-secondary program. In addition, the Education Foundation will also award several secondary prizes of $10,000.
“The goal of the Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant is to honor a school that has been doing an outstanding job educating students in collision repair, but needs some financial assistance to improve their program’s teaching materials and equipment,” the Education Foundation said. “With strained school budgets, the Education Foundation and industry supporters have the opportunity to bridge the program’s financial gap and to make a difference in the lives of the students studying collision repair.”
The Makeover grant is available to all secondary and post-secondary collision school programs nationwide, although priority is given to public and nonprofit schools. As part of the Makeover grant application, schools provide the Education Foundation with an itemized wish list of tools, supplies and equipment that are needed for the collision program. Each of the winning schools will have their $50,000 wish lists fulfilled through industry donations and support.
“We encourage all collision school programs to apply for this grant as we distribute the items on all of the applicant schools’ wish lists out to the industry seeking in-kind product donations, not just the winning schools,” said Melissa Marscin, director of grant programs for the Education Foundation. “Over the four years of the Makeover grant, the non-winning applicant schools have received over $500,000 in donations due to the fact we know specifically what they are in need of through the information listed within their Makeover application. Apply for our Makeover grant and invest in your collision programs’ and students’ futures.”
The Education Foundation’s $50,000 Makeover grant has provided support to the following schools since debuting in 2009:
• Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School in Jefferson Hills, Pa.
• Bridgerland Applied Technology College in Logan, Utah
• Applied Technology Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
• Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, Mo.
• Manhattan Area Technical College in Manhattan, Kan.

Applications for the 2013 grant, which are available online at collisioneducationfoundation.org, are due May 31. The winning schools will be announced during the 2013 SEMA Show, which is scheduled for Nov. 5-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.
