April 27, 2012—AirbagSolutions, an online provider of airbag service information, partnered with Mitchell International to allow AirbagSolutions’ website and database to be directly accessed through Mitchell’s RepairCenter.
The partnership, which took effect April 26, provides shops and insurance carriers with access to OEM requirements for airbag service, AirbagSolutions said. The integration allows shop estimators to anticipate the entire scope of airbag service needed on deployed systems by providing OEM requirements for specific vehicles prior to submitting an estimate. The information provided—which is organized by vehicle year, make, model and deployment type—allows for identification of auto manufacturer requirements, peripheral damage, code identification and light resetting procedures.
The company said the functionality is designed to help shops improve estimate quality and cycle time, and save money on unnecessary restraint system parts and procedures.
