Nov. 1, 2019—General Motors has issued a recall for 638,068 Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks from 2014-2018 and Chevrolet and GMC SUVs from 2015-2020 because one wheel may brake unexpectedly, reported Consumer Reports.

The problem is caused by a faulty wheel-speed sensor, which communicates the vehicle’s speed to key systems such as the antilock braking system. If this happens, a software error will tell the vehicle to activate the brakes on the wheel opposite the failed sensor, increasing the risk of a crash.

If the condition occurs, drivers may notice a warning light about an ABS failure or a Stabilitrak failure.
