NABC: Five cars to be given away during NACE

Oct. 4, 2010

October 4, 2010—The National Auto Body Council (NABC) has announced that five Las Vegas families will be given a refurbished vehicle on Oct. 12 during NACE.

Through the Recycled Rides program, Sterling Auto Body Centers, 911 Collision, Gerber Collision & Glass, Allstate, State Farm and California State Automobile Association have come together to donate the five cars.

The five participating families are graduates of the Family Promise of Las Vegas program, a nonprofit interfaith network that provides support to families in crisis. The recipients include a United States veteran raising his daughter; a homeless couple that have suffered health issues and job loss due to the economic downturn; a relocated couple whose plans for employment fell through and are now struggling to raise two children without a job; a single mother with two children struggling to make ends meet; and a father who had to leave his home and job in another state to come to Nevada to take care of his child, according to an NABC press release_notes.

The U.S. Bureau of Transportation estimates that more than 15 million Americans have difficulty getting the transportation they need.

“Giving families in need reliable vehicles provides them the opportunity to get to work, school and medical appointments on time, providing a fresh start,” said Nick Notte, Recycled Rides chairman and president of Sterling Auto Body Centers. “Thanks to Recycled Rides, these families will have the opportunity to make better lives for themselves. I am grateful to be part of a project that clearly illustrates the giving nature of NABC members and the collision repair industry in general.”
