July 25, 2019—Ford is spending $50 million and creating 450 jobs at its southeast side Chicago assembly plant, according to a report by CBS Chicago.
The automaker says it will upgrade a 200,000-square-foot building near its Chicago assembly plant where it now modifies Explorers into versions used by law enforcement. The police vehicles will be modified at a different, nearby building.
The move is intended to handle increased demand for the new versions of both the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator.
