June 11, 2019— U.K.-based CAT Driver Training has won accreditation for a four-day course aimed at teaching engineers and others involved in testing autonomous vehicles how to do so more safely, according to a report by Forbes.
CAT Driver Training is also on the shortlist for the category of "Best Transportation as a Service (Taas) Project."
Launched last November, the main thrust of the Autonomous Safety Driver Training Course is centered on defensive driving. The course exposes trainees to a variety of conditions ranging from public roads to the track at CAT’s base at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, about 50 miles northwest of London.
Still, in its early stages, the autonomous vehicle safety course has had just one client, Five AI which is looking to create a shared self-driving service in Europe.
