May 30, 2019—Mitsubishi is recalling more than 26,000 of its 2017-18 Mirage G4 cars because a software problem could disable all of the vehicle’s seven air bags, according to Consumer Reports.
A software error may cause the vehicle’s air bag system to mistakenly interpret vibrations from a rough road or driving with a flat tire as an air bag malfunction. As a result, the system may disable all seven of the car’s air bags.
Owners of the affected vehicles may notice that the air bag warning light (which is labeled “SRS,” for “supplemental restraint system”) stays illuminated. Mitsubishi says it is unaware of any injuries related to this recall.
The vehicles recalled are 26,016 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 sedans manufactured from March 24, 2016, through Nov. 28, 2017.
