2020 Ford Escape Redesign: Bigger but Lighter

April 4, 2019
The new 2020 Ford Escape was redesigned and is 200 pounds lighter than the current model with high strength steel.

April 4, 2019—The 2020 Ford Escape grew in size but reduced weight by 200 pounds, according to The Detroit Free Press.

The completely redesigned 2020 Ford Escape, a popular compact SUV and the company’s No. 2 best-selling vehicle after the Ford F-Series pickup, debuted Tuesday.

The new vehicle is made with high-strength steel, and lightweight steel. The vehicle offers safety features including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane-centering technology.

Active parking assist allows the driver to parallel or perpendicular park with the touch of a button — no need to work the steering wheel, gas or brake pedal. What's more, the new Escape's evasive steering assist detects slow-moving or stationary objects and provides steering support to avoid collision.
