Nissan Updates Position Statements, Alters Paint Program

Nissan has updated its existing pre- and post-repair scanning and calibrations position statements, which now note that all Nissan and INFINITI vehicles from 2008 forward must have a post-repair diagnostic scan.

Jan. 14, 2019—Nissan has updated its existing pre- and post-repair scanning and calibrations position statements, which now note that all Nissan and INFINITI vehicles from 2008 forward must have a post-repair diagnostic scan.

In total, Nissan has released eight new Nissan and INFINITI position statements on topics including:

  • Aluminum replacement parts
  • De-nib and polish, finish sand and polish
  • Frame and unibody pulling
  • Partial clear coat blending
  • Raw bumper and other precautions for plastics
  • New part seam sealing 
  • Single-use parts
  • Welding precautions

Nissan is also releasing an instructional video on performing a proper diagnostic vehicle scan using OEM scan tool CONSULT, which covers preparing the vehicle for scanning, scanning the vehicle and recognizing DTCs.

Nissan is also launching a new paint warranty program change. Nissan Group of North America will now refer all U.S.-based warrantable paint repairs to the Nissan and INFINITI Certified Collision Repair Networks. The change recognizes the coverage and quality of the certified networks and its investment in the tools, training, and equipment to take care of owners and their vehicles.
