BASF has released its annual color report of automotive OEM coatings, which serves as a global analysis of the colors seen throughout the automotive market in 2018.

Jan.. 9, 2019—BASF has released its annual color report of automotive OEM coatings, which serves as a global analysis of the colors seen throughout the automotive market in 2018.

The research indicated that achromatic colors such as white, black, gray and silver continue to be popular, accounting for nearly 80 percent of cars produced worldwide. The most popular color in that group is white.

Among all chromatic shades, blue proved to be the most popular, followed by red. Such chromatic colors are distributed mainly in the segments of small and compact cars. In the larger vehicle classes, the proportion of chromatic colors decreased significantly.
