Dec. 31, 2018—Central Valley Collision Repair in Visalia, Calif., recently donated a vehicle to single mother Vera Castillo, as part of a holiday donation.

Each year, Central Valley Collision Repair donates a refurbished vehicle. Typically, the vehicles simply require light mechanical or body repair work, according to owner Lisa Colburn. Each October, Colburn reaches out to local organizations to seek nominations for a vehicle donation, and, in order to qualify to receive the vehicle, parents must be single, while also having a solid driving record.

“As we mill through all of the applicants each year, it is always a reminder of how many needy people there are in our community that we can bless with one of these 'written off' vehicles," Colburn told the Visalia Times Delta.

Castillo has been in Celebrate Recovery for nearly one year and recently began working with homeless in her community. She also volunteers at a local church’s children’s ministry.
