SCRS release_notess Guide to Complete Repair Planning

April 15, 2011

April 15, 2011 — The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) on Thursday launched its first edition of an online guide for collision repair estimators.

Called the Guide to Complete Repair Planning, the document is meant to serve as a checklist on procedures and services that might occur in the repair process. The guide is free and can be downloaded here.

“The vision behind this project in the beginning was to simplify and standardize the estimating process,” said SCRS Immediate Past Chairman, Barry Dorn. “Through the evolution and continued growth of the list, we began to see a very applicable tool develop that we believe has the potential to offer significant value to the industry.”

March Taylor, Toby Chess and other contributors initially developed the guide as a mechanism to standardize the estimating process. SCRS Chairman Aaron Clark said he hopes it is ultimately used to ensure better accounting for work performed. The hope is that the document will be continuously developed, he said.

“This was always intended to be a ‘living document’ that adapts and evolves over time,” Clark said. “By opening it up to the industry, we are able to harness even more input and suggestions to improve it with future editions while delivering on our overarching desire to provide resources that help the industry grow and succeed.”
