A 43-year-old man has been charged in a shootout at an Alabama body shop that left him and the business owner wounded by the gunfire.

October 17, 2018—A suspect was recently charged in a shootout at an Ala. shop that left him and the owner wounded, reported Al.com.

Jerry Cortez Poole is charged with second-degree assault, according to jail records and the report. Shop owner Robert Colvert III was hit twice, in the hip and buttocks areas. Poole was also hit twice, and underwent surgery for his injuries.

The shooting happened at R.C's Collision Paint and Body. According to the report, Poole owned another car repair shop across town but had everything he owned stolen in a burglary. Colvert had agreed to let the man use his tools and space at his shop for a couple weeks to finish up some work he was doing on two vehicles. They had come to an agreement on what the man would pay Colvert.

Poole, Colvert said to Al.com, had finished the work on one of the vehicles and returned it to its owner. He was supposed to then pay Colvert his portion of the money but stopped showing up at the shop and didn't respond to Colvert's messages.
