Dec. 13, 2010—The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) announced on Monday that Toyota’s recent statement warning against the use of alternative parts was “groundless.”
On Nov. 30, Toyota release_notesd a statement warning against the safety and performance of aftermarket parts. The ARA responded citing Toyota’s own shortcomings in its parts’ safety and performance with millions of cars being recalled in 2010, according to an ARA press release.
“Toyota’s press releases have failed to cite any statistics indicating that recycled parts are more dangerous than new parts. What probabilities of safety issues with recycled parts is Toyota working with,” said Michael Wilson, ARA’s CEO.
