July 10, 2018—Perhaps ride-sharing isn’t quite the immediate threat that some auto dealerships fear it is. According to a new Gallup poll, 83 percent of U.S. adults still drive a car at least several times per week.

Nearly all U.S. adults regularly drive a car, a number that includes 64 percent who say they drive every day, and 19 percent who do so most days in a week. Six percent of Americans drive a few times per month, the study indicated, while 4 percent rarely drive, and 6 percent never do.

The most frequent drivers are men, adults with household incomes of  at least $90,000 per year, college graduates, suburbanites, parents of children under the age of 18, and those aged 30-49 years.

The findings of the poll, which also noted that 86 percent of U.S. adults say they own or lease a car, were from an April 23-29 Gallup study that explored Americans’ driving habits and current attitudes about cars.
