June 5, 2018—Daimler said planned launches of battery-powered luxury cars were on schedule, following a report that they were facing delays because of battery shortages and other technical problems, reported Reuters.
Daimler's electric midsize sport-utility vehicle will not be in dealerships until June 2019, according to the report.
While the German Handelsblatt reported that a battery-powered version of Mercedes' redesigned S-Class flagship saloon would not be available until 2021, a Daimler spokesman told Reuters that development of the new S-Class was going to plan.
By 2022, Mercedes plans to offer an electric version of every model it sells and will stop offering cars with combustion engines in 2020, according to Reuters.
