May 22, 2018—There is a growing distrust of driverless vehicles, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

AAA national survey says that about 73 percent of drivers said they would be too afraid in a self-driving vehicle, according to the report.

“Our results show that any incident involving an autonomous vehicle is likely to shake consumer trust, which is a critical component to the widespread acceptance of autonomous vehicles," said Greg Bannon, AAa's director of automotive engineering and industry relations, in the news release.

The survey found that millennials were the group most impacted by these incidents. The percentage of millennial drivers too afraid to ride in a fully self-driving vehicle has jumped from 49 percent to 64 percent since late 2017, representing the largest increase of any generation surveyed.

That figure is up from 63 percent of drivers who said they were afraid in an AAA survey released in January.

83 percent of women said they were too afraid to ride an autonomous vehicle compared with 63 percent of men.
