Chief University announces 2012 training schedule

Feb. 9, 2012—Chief University, the training branch of Chief Automotive Technologies, released its 2012 training course schedule for collision repair technicians, estimators and appraisers.

Chief’s training courses are held in training centers throughout the United States and Canada. They combine classroom training with hands-on demonstrations and practice.

The training schedule includes several opportunities to take Chief’s newest course on Design Based Repair, according to the company. The class features 16 hours of instruction on the efficient, economical and proper repair of a vehicle to return it to original design specifications. The course concentrates on the use of new materials including high-strength steels, boron, aluminum and carbon fiber in modern vehicle design. In addition, the course addresses the proper use of OEM information and repair procedures to effect thorough, correct and safe repairs to the vehicle and its advanced safety systems, Chief said.

Other training courses offered by Chief in 2012 include computerized measuring, structural analysis and repair, steering and suspension, collision theory, advanced unibody repair and advanced frame repair, the company said.

Chief said most of its courses are approved for I-CAR points through the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance program. The courses are also certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) for compliance with the Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE) standards.

Visit Chief’s website for detailed course descriptions, dates, locations or registration information.
